
Hannah Whaley is an Assistant Director in the University of Dundee’s Library and Learning Centre, with responsibility for Research and Systems. She specialises in system design, service development and innovation within HE teaching and research. As a qualified software engineer with a background in design and usability, Hannah had previously established herself in the field of elearning in recent years, winning UK Learning Technologist of the Year in 2007.
Notable projects include the development of a new Self and Peer Assessment System which was incorporated into the Blackboard learning environment in 2008, and the Personal Development Planning module which is utilised in a number of UK institutions. Current work is focussed on library search solutions, enhancing research support and provision, groupwork assessment and open access repositories for research publications.

This blog represents a chance to reflect publicly on the projects, scenarios and technologies that I come into contact with through my work. All aspects of teaching and research are changing to adapt to the new technologies on offer to them. The social networking world provides the opportunity to share and discuss ideas on these topics with peers, and this is my contribution to the debate.
